What Does A CareGiver Do?
Our CareGivers are trained to provide care with dignity and respect and promote the Client’s independence rather than take it away. We also encourage CareGivers to bring fun and imagination to care visits by sharing their own passions, for example baking cakes, music & dancing or walking along the Sussex Coast.
Clients could have physical disabilities caused by illness, accident, or ageing and need a little extra support with daily tasks. Some may only need companionship whilst others may need more complex care. We will carefully match the you to the Client and support you to be happy and confident in your care role.
CareGivers assist Clients with the following:
- promote mental and physical wellbeing through companionship, taking Clients out or encouraging activities such as reading, writing, and hobbies
- personal care needs including dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and toileting
- mobility issues and physical disabilities requiring help with care aids and personal equipment
- make and change bedding and light domestic tasks such as laundry
- meal preparation for breakfast, lunch or dinner
- administer medication and creams
- monitor and record Client’s wellbeing digitally using the OpenPASS app
Training & Career Development
If you are new to care, our free Kingsway Care Academy 12-week course will equip you with the skills and Care Certificate required to be a qualified CareGiver.
If you are already working in Care but feeling undervalued in your current role, please do get in touch. Kingsway Care encourage all employees to improve their skills and knowledge with vocational qualifications. i.e. NVQs and Diplomas in Health & Social Care.
Regular appraisals will identify your passions so we can create a career progression path tailored to your strengths.
Support
We have a fantastic hands-on management team to support you. We lead from the front and even Olly, the Managing Director, and the management team take on daily care visits. We know some aspects of the job can be challenging so ensure all CareGivers have the right training, high-quality PPE and our support team is on call to help out.
The free employee assistance programme is in place to help with any legal, financial, and counselling issues you may have outside of work too.
Work Should be Fun

But most of all, we want you to enjoy working and actively encourage you to have fun with the team and our Kingsway Care Clients. Here we are enjoying a silent disco with Guru Dudu on Brighton beach.
