Mum of six children and part-time CareGiver
I love visiting my Clients and making their day special and fun. Here I am with Ursula making Valentine’s cards.
What did you do before joining Kingsway Care?
I’m a full-time mum of six children and was a Childminder before that.
Why did you decide to work for a home care provider?
I was looking for a new challenge and wanted to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
How many hours a week do you work?
I work about 23 hours a week. The CareGiving role and hours suit my lifestyle and family commitments perfectly.
I’ve been taking my Client to the Hop 50+ in Hove for a delicious lunch every Wednesday. Ursula was very happy with this Greek Bugatsa custard dessert!
Do you have any care qualifications?
I’ve been working for Kingsway Care for four months now and have just enrolled to do the Care Certificate. I’d like to become a Senior CareGiver eventually.
What’s a typical working day like?
I have to get all the children off to school before I can go and visit my regular Clients. I try to make their day as special as possible and enjoy going out for coffee and cake and visiting garden centres together.
What do you enjoy about the job?
There is nothing I don’t enjoy! I love spending time with the Clients, making them laugh and just making a difference.
I took June’s beloved watch to be fixed. She was so happy that I’d made the effort. It was worth it to see that smile!
Anything you’d like to say about Kingsway Care?
Kingsway Care is an amazing company to work for as I constantly feel supported. All the CareGivers are very friendly and the Clients are all lovely.
Any advice for someone considering becoming a CareGiver?
Go for it!! I never thought I could do the job but now I realise it’s one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I hadn’t seen the lovely Eileen for a while so I bought her a bunch of tulips.
