Kingsway Care's Cream Tea Cruise Treat
This May Bank Holiday Sunday we treated some of our wonderful Kingsway Care Clients to a delightful Cream Tea Cruise along the picturesque Chichester Canal.
Our mini-adventure began as we boarded the spacious Richmond, a charming boat that promised two hours of pure relaxation. We enjoyed uninterrupted countryside views. The sun was shining, the water was glistening, and our spirits were high as we set off on this tranquil journey.
A Delightful Afternoon on the Chichester Canal
No Cream Tea Cruise is complete without a delicious spread, and we made sure to treat our Clients to the very best. Everyone indulged in scrumptious scones topped with locally made jam and clotted cream. These were perfectly paired with a choice of tea or coffee.

Kingsway Care Clients, Pat, Ernie, Eileen and Biddy loved the special afternoon cruising along the Chichester Canal.
Wheelchair Accessibility
As with all Kingsway Care Client trips, we checked beforehand for wheelchair accessibility. We were pleased to be informed that volunteers keep the canal open and accessible to everyone. A maximum of two wheelchairs are permitted on board each trip. Both Chichester Canal boats have lifts for passengers with impaired mobility or requiring wheelchair access. There is also a ramp to the pontoon.
Picturesque Chichester Canal
As we glided past wildflowers and reed beds, the unique views of the cathedral and South Downs were nothing short of breathtaking. Our guests relaxed and enjoyed the ever-changing scenery, soaking in the peaceful ambiance of the canal. There was also much excitement and camera clicking as we sailed by a couple of elegant swans. They were enjoying the sunny day with their fluffy little cygnets.
A Perfect Escape
This cruise was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Brighton & Hove. The Chichester Canal provided a serene retreat that felt worlds away, yet conveniently close and accessible. It’s these hidden gems that make outings with Kingsway Care so special.
I had a wonderful day with everyone, especially because the weather was perfect. It was fantastic to spend quality time with some of our Clients, and the cream tea was an extra special treat.
