Wetsuits, Watersport and lots of cake
Our annual Kingsway Care Summer Party at Hove Lagoon was everything a summer party should be: fun, laughter, a little friendly competition and plenty of cake.
The party kicked off at 1pm with our CareGivers, friends and family bravely attempting the adventurous task of squeezing into wetsuits. Yellow uniforms were temporarily abandoned as everyone gathered for the briefing at Hove Lagoon Watersports.
Let the Games Begin
The skies may have looked distinctly stormy, but thankfully the rain held off. The teams certainly got wet, though, with plenty of splashing, capsizing, paddling, scrambling and the occasional battle to stay on board!
Who will play Prince Charming?
The big talking point of the afternoon was our forthcoming CinderCarer Panto.
The script has just been finished by one of our showbiz clients and we cannot wait to read it. Quite who will be stepping into the role of Prince Charming remains a matter of considerable debate. There may have been some lobbying. 👀
After the watersports came the welcome combination of hot showers and a delicious BBQ, followed by speeches, awards and, naturally, cake.
Olly, founder of Kingsway Care, gave a heartfelt speech thanking our team for the care, compassion and commitment they bring to clients every day.
Our MD, Vicky, also took to the stage to announce our monthly cash prize winners.
🏆 Stats Superstar: Bev
Bev was recognised for her fantastic consistency, turning up on time for all her visits and making sure her notes and observations are recorded. Reliable, organised and quietly brilliant.
🏆 CareGiver of the Month: Elisha
Elisha was recognised for handling some particularly tricky situations with professionalism, care and determination. Exactly the sort of person you want beside you when things don't go according to plan.
🏆 Brand Ambassador: Amy
Jac nominated Amy for the Brand Ambassador award after her legendary “What the Duck?” office prank, when she hid 200 miniature yellow rubber ducks around Kingsway Care HQ.
It was particularly fitting that Amy received the award on her last day before heading off on maternity leave. A pretty memorable way to finish one chapter before starting another.

Then came the moment that has become part of Kingsway Care history.Olly gathered everyone together to capture the people who make Kingsway Care what it is, with the plan for the photograph to take its rightful place on the walls of our Hove office alongside memories from previous years.
Looking around the group, it was hard not to feel incredibly lucky.
The nicest bunch of handpicked people join Kingsway Care, and watching everyone laughing, competing, chatting and simply enjoying each other's company was a lovely reminder that great teams are built on relationships too.
And then came the rain. Just one tiny downpour.
Naturally, it arrived precisely when the cake was being served.
Nobody panicked. Cake was grabbed, everyone dashed for shelter and the Victoria Sponge, Walnut & Coffee, Lemon Drizzle and Carrot Cake were rapidly consumed before they could become soggy.

A huge thank you to Olly for organising another brilliant day and, most importantly, for giving our team the chance to relax, celebrate and enjoy being together.
We spend our working days caring for other people.
This afternoon was all about celebrating the people who care. 💛
And judging by the photos and videos, there was plenty to celebrate.
