The Team Behind Great Homecare
What happens when a homecare team refuses to say, "That's not our job"?
At Kingsway Care, our Office Team is much more than the people who organise care, answer the phones and keep everything running.
They are advocates. Problem-solvers. Coordinators. Crisis managers. Sometimes they are simply the person who refuses to walk away when someone needs help.
And that is why we are so proud that our Office Team has been shortlisted for the Ancillary Support of the Year Award at the inaugural Brighton & Hove Care Awards 2026.
Our Office Team simply asks: "What does this person need?" Then they get to work finding the answer.

Meet The Kingsway Care Office Team
Vicky, our Managing Director, and Lisa, our Registered Manager, lead from the front. They create a culture where people feel trusted to take action, solve problems and speak up when something isn't right. Their positive, can-do approach gives the whole Office Team the confidence to go the extra mile for clients, families and CareGivers.
Taking Care of Everything
Laura and Sue, our Client Coordinators, are the people making sure the details don't get missed. They are a key point of contact for clients and families, create personalised care plans and know the individual needs and preferences of the people we support. From arranging repeat prescriptions and medication collection to contacting GPs, District Nurses, Occupational Therapists and other healthcare professionals, they quietly coordinate the many moving parts that help keep care safe, personal and running smoothly.
Maria, Our Workforce Coordinator
Maria, our Workforce Coordinator, is the master of the weekly care puzzle. She creates and manages our care schedules, making sure every client receives the right visits from the right CareGivers, while taking individual needs and continuity of care into account.Every week brings a new set of challenges, from holidays and sickness to last-minute changes and hospital admissions. Maria keeps all the pieces moving, adapting quickly and making sure our clients continue to receive safe, consistent and reliable care.
Katie, Our Audit & Compliance Lead
Katie, our Audit & Compliance Lead, helps make sure the high standards we set for ourselves are consistently delivered. She carries out care plan reviews, quality assurance reviews and weekly audits, checking that our care remains safe, effective and person-centred.
Refusing to Let People Fall Through The Gaps
Recently, Sue, one of our Client Coordinators became aware of an older person living in extremely unsafe conditions in the community. They weren't a Kingsway Care client. It would have been very easy to say, "Someone else needs to deal with this."
Instead, she raised safeguarding concerns and helped ensure the person entered the right system so they could receive the support they needed to stay safe. She saw a vulnerable person and acted.
Advocating for Better Care
Lisa, our Registered Manager, spent weeks advocating for a woman experiencing severe mental ill health and self-neglect.
Despite repeated attempts to discharge her from hospital without the support she needed, Lisa continued to challenge decisions, coordinate with different agencies and push for a safer outcome.
It wasn't quick. It wasn't easy. And it certainly wasn't convenient.
But she refused to let someone disappear through the gaps in the system.
When someone needs you, you go
Another much-loved client had become frightened because she no longer trusted the hospital team caring for her. Two members of our Office Team didn't hesitate to help.
They travelled to the hospital, reassured our client, accompanied her on hospital transport and stayed with her until she was safely home. For that client, their presence transformed fear into confidence.
Sometimes the greatest thing you can give someone is simply the reassurance that they are not alone.

Our Care doesn't end when the care package does
Our Office Team's commitment doesn't stop when a client leaves our care.
When another much-loved client, Ernie was nearing the end of his life, the team spent hours over a weekend advocating for his wish to return home rather than remain in hospital. Sadly, he died in hospital.
But the story didn't end there. Our Office Team visited his grieving family, bringing photographs, memories and messages from the CareGivers whose lives he had touched.
They helped his family understand that he hadn't simply received a care service.
He had been known, valued and loved.

These aren't one-off acts of kindness.
They are examples of how our Office Team works every day.
They navigate complicated health and social care systems. They coordinate care. They respond to crises. They support families. They advocate when something isn't right. They listen when someone needs to be heard.
And sometimes they simply roll up their sleeves and get involved.
Our Office Team may work behind the scenes, but their impact is very much in the lives of the people we care for.
So, while the awards might call them Ancillary Workers, we know what they really are.
They are the people who see a problem and get to work.
The people who ask, "What does this person need?"
And the people who never, ever say: "Not our problem."
We are incredibly proud that they have been recognised as finalists for the Ancillary Support of the Year Award at the Brighton & Hove Care Awards 2026.
Whatever happens on the night, we already know they deserve to be celebrated.
Thank you Vicky, Lisa, Laura, Sue and Maria.
