Stroke Recovery: Robert's Story
Robert was just 48 when he suffered a life-changing stroke. Before his stroke, he was living a full and active life — working full-time, enjoying life with his partner, and planning their future together, including marriage. The stroke affected both his speech and mobility severely.
His care team were fully involved with NHS physiotherapy from the beginning — trained to apply Robert's splints and carry out his rehabilitation exercises several times a week. In time, he was able to leave the house for the first time since his stroke.
One of Robert's biggest goals is to read aloud on his wedding day. Kingsway CareGivers weave speech therapy practice into every visit — helping him retrieve and repeat words, encouraging small but meaningful improvements with each session.
