At Kingsway Care, we’re always looking for new ways to brighten our Clients’ days and support our CareGivers. We focus on delivering creative, personalised home care. This summer, we’re nurturing sunflowers together!
A Seed of an Idea from Sally
The Kingsway Care Sunflower Challenge began with a beautiful idea from our very own Senior CareGiver, Sally. She wanted to do something cheerful, low-cost, and meaningful with Clients during the summer months. What could be better than growing sunflowers together?
Sally teamed up with our Managing Director, Vicky, and together they brought the idea to life. They created our bespoke Kingsway Care Sunflower Kits. Each lovingly prepared kit includes:
- A small pot
- Soil
- Dwarf sunflower seeds
- Tied with a sunny yellow ribbon
- And a handwritten tag saying: “With love from Kingsway Care”
Delivering Smiles (and Seeds!) Across Sussex
Green fingered Biddy was delighted to receive the Kingsway Care Sunflower Kit.
From the moment our CareGivers began delivering the kits, the response has been nothing short of heartwarming. Clients were thrilled to receive something so thoughtful and hands-on. The kits sparked excitement, smiles, and even a little healthy competition!
Barry was the first to get his hands dirty when Kingsway CareGiver Kerry delivered his kit. He couldn’t wait to start planting. Meanwhile, Pat was just as delighted with her sunflower kit and looked absolutely radiant in her floral frock as she got stuck in.
We’ve had so many lovely photos of CareGivers and Clients planting together, chatting about gardening. They are placing their pots on sunny windowsills.
Why Sunflowers?
We chose dwarf sunflowers because they’re perfect for small spaces such as windowsills, balconies, or garden tables. This makes them easy to grow and enjoy for everyone, no matter their circumstances.
Plus, they bloom in around 60 days, which means (if all goes to plan!) they’ll be in full flower just in time for our 5th anniversary in August. What a wonderful way to celebrate five years of care, colour, and community!

There’s no doubt about it — we’d be a sunflower.
With our bright yellow branding, cheerful uniforms, and sunny nature, sunflowers are the perfect symbol for us. Kingsway Care stands for warmth, optimism, and always turning toward the light.
We can’t wait to see whose sunflower grows the tallest, the bushiest, or the brightest. But most of all, we’re proud to be growing joy together, one pot at a time.

The Kingsway Care Summer Sunflower Challenge has its very first winner, the wonderful Biddy!
With nine decades of gardening experience (and a very sunny windowsill), Biddy’s sunflower has burst into bloom.
This special moment happens to fall exactly five years after our founder, Olly Carter, started Kingsway Care. The mission was clear: to spread positivity and happiness across our community. We enable people to live independently at home.
And yes… sunflower yellow is Olly’s favourite colour. This is why you’ll see our team drenched in it everywhere from our uniforms to our website.
