2024 Home Care Highlights
As 2024 draws to a close, we're filled with pride and gratitude reflecting on an incredible year at Kingsway Care. From welcoming new CareGivers and Clients to winning prestigious awards, it's been a year worth celebrating. Here's a look back at some of the home care highlights that made 2024 an unforgettable year.
January - New Year, New Talent
Kingsway Care started the year by expanding our team with the addition of Bruce, Andrew, Stephanie, Rebecca, Makana, and Nandita. Their dedication and compassionate care have made a real difference to Clients across Brighton, Hove, and Worthing.
Whether providing companionship or complex care for dementia, Parkinson's, brain injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, cancer, or general old age – they’ve been outstanding throughout 2024. Meet our new team members.
February - Celebrating Home Care Excellence
February marked the inaugural Kingsway Care Awards Gala Dinner at the Hilton Metropole, Brighton. The evening was filled with positive energy as we recognised the dedication and individual achievements of our care team.
We welcomed Dr Jane Townson, OBE and Chair of the Home Care Association, who officially opened our Hove HQ and the new Kingsway Care Academy.
Another February highlight saw the launch of our groundbreaking short film #WhoCares?, celebrating the 1.5 million caregivers supporting adults across the UK.
March - Home Care Awards Win
We were thrilled to win at the Home Care Awards for the third consecutive year! A huge congratulations to Amy, our Senior CareGiver and TikTok star, who received the Rising Star Award.
April - Double Award Win
April was a landmark month as we clinched Business of the Year and Employer of the Year at the Gatwick Diamond Business Awards.
A proud achievement that speaks volumes about our exceptional team and workplace culture.
Katy, our Disability Champion, and Amy also shared valuable insights in a video advising non-disabled people on how to make life easier for wheelchair users.
May - Stroke Rehabilitation Success
In May, we celebrated the incredible progress of a stroke survivor who, with the help of our caregivers, saw improvements in mobility, speech, and confidence.
We also enjoyed a Cream Tea Cruise with clients along the scenic Chichester Canal during the sunny Witsun Bank Holiday.
June - Growing and Giving Back
June brought exciting developments with the opening of our second branch in Worthing at Freedom Works. We also launched a community initiative, inviting unpaid carers to Kingsway Care Academy for free advice and support. Our doors opened to anyone in the local community looking after a loved one, offering valuable home care expertise.
July - A Better Life Documentary
Kingsway Care Client, Louis and CareGiver Sorin, enjoying a home care visit while filming A Better Life.
Nourish Care released A Better Life, a documentary following a Kingsway CareGiver, Sorin, and our inspirational clients – including Louis, a Paralympian, Eric, an ex-Geography teacher, and Laurence, a WWII evacuee.
We also supported Martin, one of our younger adults, to tick off his activities wishlist, including a cinema trip and accessible seating at Brighton Albion FC v Spurs Football Match.
August - New Beginnings
In August, we supported Ernie, a recently widowed client, to move into an accessible flat after his leg amputation.
September - End of Summer Party
The summer wrapped up with our annual Kingsway Care Summer Party featuring a treasure hunt around Brighton (in light rain) and brunch at Red Rooster.
Falls Prevention Training
September saw us collaborate with local physiotherapist Stephanie to produce fall prevention videos, helping clients stay mobile and independent.
We also welcomed Don, an ex-RAF veteran who was reluctant to accept he needed extra support at home. He quickly became popular with all our CareGivers. Sadly Don passed during the Christmas holidays, he will always be remembered fondly.
October - Leaders In Care Award Win
We were overjoyed to win the Innovation in Home Care Award at the Leaders in Care Awards, marking our fourth year of peer recognition.
November - Dementia Support Sessions
We also launched free dementia drop-in sessions at Kingsway Care Academy, providing vital support for families and the local community. This initiative will continue into 2025 with the next session scheduled for 29th January 2025.
December - Inclusive Festive Season
As the year closed, we shared advice on creating a dementia-friendly Christmas, ensuring the holidays remained joyful and inclusive for all. Our CareGivers have been busy visiting Clients at home ensuring everyone feels safe, loved, and included. Or if able, escorting them to enjoy Christmas lunches at the Food and Friendship Luncheon Club.
Throughout 2024, Kingsway Care has supported countless clients and families, providing compassionate care every day of the year. We look forward to continuing to provide first-class home care in Brighton, Hove, and Worthing for 2025.
