Home Care At Christmas - Open As Usual
At Kingsway Care, Christmas isn’t just about spreading festive cheer (though we love that part too!). It’s also about ensuring our Clients and Care Professionals are fully prepared to enjoy a stress free holiday season. We plan our Christmas and New Year's Eve rosters months in advance, checking which Clients will need home care visits while also ensuring our CareGivers have some time off to enjoy with their loved ones too.
Open Every Day From 8am to 10pm
Kingsway Care is open 365 days a year to support you or a loved one to be happy and safe at home. Our home care experts are on call for any emergency or healthcare enquiry and experienced with planning ahead for pharmacy and GP closures over the holiday season. Home Care Visits During the Christmas Period
We provide home care visits over the Christmas period to support Clients and their families who need:
- Help with personal care routines such as bathing, toileting and changing incontinence pads
- Meal preparation and a friendly face to reduce feelings of loneliness.
- Assistance with mobility, medication reminders, and other essential needs.
- Specialised care for Clients with dementia, brain injury, stroke survivors, cancer, and end-of-life care.
Overnight Care 8pm to 8am
Overnight Care is also available for Clients that need assistance during the night, either for their own anxiety and comfort or to help with night time trips to the loo and time sensitive medications.
Bringing The Festive Spirit
Our CareGivers are already busy spreading festive cheer! From helping clients decorate their Christmas trees to assisting with wrapping gifts and writing cards, we’re making the season merry and bright for everyone we support.
Kingsway CareGivers can even keep you company to enjoy a Christmas lunch. Our Client Eileen, loves going to the weekly Food and Friendship Luncheon Club in Hove and even won the Christmas hamper this year, thanks to Kingsway CareGiver, Lisa, buying a ticket for her.
Practical Preparations for the Festive Season
But the festive season isn’t just about decorations and celebrations. With shops and pharmacies operating reduced hours during the holidays, it’s crucial to plan ahead. That’s why, in the lead-up to Christmas, our team takes extra care to ensure our Clients have everything they need. Here’s how we’re preparing:
1. Checking Essential Medical & Hygiene Supplies
Our CareGivers are double-checking that Clients have enough of the following:
- Medications: Ensuring prescriptions are filled and there’s an adequate supply to cover the holiday period.
- Personal care items: Incontinence pads, wipes, shower gels, creams, and any other hygiene essentials are restocked.
2. Food Stocking
We’re helping Clients make sure their cupboards are well-stocked with:
- Everyday essentials like bread and milk.
- Ready meals or easy-to-prepare foods to keep things simple.
- Treats to make the season a little more festive
3. Supporting Client Wellbeing
Our CareGivers are also looking out for Clients’ overall wellbeing, ensuring they feel cared for and supported during what can sometimes be a lonely time of year. Whether it’s a cheerful chat or a festive outing, we’re here to make sure no one feels forgotten.
4. Support for Friends & Family
If you can't be with your loved one this festive season, then The OpenPASS secure App allows friends and family to stay in touch providing peace of mind with real time updates after every home care visit.
