Six Experienced CareGivers Join Kingsway Care
We're delighted to welcome our six experienced CareGivers to the Kingsway Care team following the closure of Martlets Home Care services. (Nestwell)
Steph, Pat, Lynda, Steve, Silke, and Bev bring a wealth of experience, compassion and dedication to their roles. While the closure of a service is never easy for the people affected, we're proud to have been able to offer these talented care professionals a new workplace. Now they can continue doing what they do best: supporting people to live independently and well at home.
Continuity of Care For Martlets Clients
Importantly, we have also been able to support a number of former Martlets clients, helping to provide continuity of care at what could otherwise have been a worrying and disruptive time. By welcoming both Martlets CareGivers and clients into Kingsway Care, familiar faces and trusted relationships have been able to continue. This provides reassurance for clients and their families.
A Warm Welcome To Kingsway Care
Starting a new role can be daunting, particularly when you've built strong relationships with colleagues and clients elsewhere. That's why creating a supportive induction experience is so important.
Even experienced CareGivers receive a Kingsway Care Induction at our Academy in Hove.

Steph recently shared her experience of joining Kingsway Care:
"The carers that I've shadowed have all been so lovely and supportive, which is a massive positive when you've come from a different care agency and are apprehensive about things. No question has seemed too silly to ask."
She also praised the support she received from our office team:
"A big shout out to Kellie, our Field Care Supervisor, who has phoned and checked in with me regularly to see how I've been getting on. She really has been fabulous and has made the transition a lot easier for me."
When asked why she chose Kingsway Care, Steph explained:
"During the interview process it was clear that Kingsway's ethos very much aligned with how I feel care should be delivered. It's really nice to feel part of a team and I really get the feeling that there's a big team and family feel here."
Recently, long-standing Kingsway CareGiver Kerry, introduced Steph to the Food and Friendship Luncheon Club charity we support every Tuesday and Thursday. We think they enjoyed it!
Growing Our Team Means More Support for Local Families
The arrival of six experienced CareGivers strengthens our ability to support more people across Brighton & Hove and the surrounding areas.
Just as importantly, it has enabled some former Martlets clients to continue receiving support from familiar CareGivers they already know and trust. Continuity of care can make a tremendous difference, particularly during times of change. It helps people feel safe, confident and supported.
We're thrilled to have Steph, Pat, Lynda, Steve, Silke, and Bev on board. We look forward to sharing more of their stories in the months ahead.
Meet Our New CareGivers
Beverley has extensive experience supporting both children with special needs and palliative care clients, alongside a unique earlier career as a professional ice skater with Holiday on Ice!
Steve joins us as a part-time caregiver, bringing over a decade of dedicated experience in homecare. A compassionate professional with a First Class Honours degree in Psychology and Mathematics, Steve also has a history of community advocacy and specialised support for young people with autism.
Silke joins us after years as a care professional with Martlets Care (Nestwell). Prior to that she was a teaching assistant and holds a degree in Physiotherapy from Germany.
Pat joins us with an impressive 40 years of experience in the care sector, including work in the community and hospital settings. Most recently, she spent nearly two decades as a Care Assistant with Martlets.
Lynda spent over 10 years providing care in the community, which included administering medication, supporting clients with mobility and hoists, and delivering end-of-life and palliative care.
