Elderly Home Care Can Be Fun
We’re taking a moment to celebrate the life of Eileen – a much-loved Kingsway Care Client who brought a smile to everyone she met. At 98, she was always up for a giggle with our CareGivers.
Eileen had lived in her home in Hove for more than 50 years and could have continued for many more years with our support. She always said there was no point in being miserable which made her an absolute joy to spend time with.
Fun Days Out With Kingsway Care
We’ve shared many special moments with Eileen. She loved the decadent afternoon at the Daytime Cabaret in Hove, with our CareGiver Faye and other game Clients. When we heard she was longing to have her hair done in a salon again instead of at home, our Senior CareGiver, Lisa, took her along for a pamper session at Hair Actually Hove. And who could forget the Chichester Canal Cruise? Scones, sunshine and laughter… it was a perfect day for our Clients, including Eileen, and CareGivers to enjoy together.

Falling At Home
Our final home care visit to Eileen was one we’ll always remember. When our CareGivers arrived, they found her on the floor – she had taken a tumble and forgotten to press her alarm. But in true Eileen style, she was laughing about it and telling herself off for the mishap.
She just wanted to get back into her chair. At first, she refused to go to hospital because she didn’t want to leave the home she’d lived in for over 50 years. Eventually, the paramedics persuaded her that hospital was necessary, as it was likely she had broken her hip.
Quality Home Care For the Elderly
Our CareGivers packed a bag with everything they felt she would need. They soothed her, reassured her that she was making the right choice, and helped her stay calm and happy. As she was taken away in the ambulance, she was waving and smiling.
Sadly, she passed away a few days later. Vicky Haines, Managing Director of Kingsway Care, informed the team saying,
"The hip surgery was just too much for her. But during her final hours at home, Kingsway CareGivers made sure she felt safe, comfortable, and unafraid. She was laughing, and as happy as she always was."
